Youth For Christ Orphanage, Burundi

You’ve seen examples of communities that are in need of safe water. Communities that we have assessed and are waiting for funding to move forward. Around the world, Water Missions International has completed over 700 water projects. One of these water projects is Youth For Christ Orphanage in Burundi which was completed several weeks ago. Here are a series of photos that tell the story of this orphanage.

Flag Raising Ceremony Held at Water Missions International

Thursday, December 3rd, marked a special day at Water Missions International headquarters in Charleston, SC. Two new flags hung from the ceiling as staff and volunteers listened to a brief presentation on the new water systems now in place in both Burundi and St. Lucia. The raising of the new flags marks the first time that Water Missions International has served the people in these countries. The flags hang suspended over the production facility, symbolizing the impact the ministry has had on now 42 countries around the world.

Volunteers are inspired by the flags to work hard, furthering Water Missions International’s goal to bring safe and Living water to developing countries and disaster areas. The crowd listened as each country’s national anthem played as the flag was secured to the production facility ceiling.

Two water systems were installed in Burundi. One, in a community called Katobo and the other at a Youth For Christ orphanage. Each solar water purification system now serves several thousand people in the surrounding areas. Initially, water sources were tested and found to contain harmful bacteria.

After being hit by Tropical Storm Tomas, two water systems were installed in St. Lucia via ministry partner, Operation Blessing. Access to safe water can mean the difference between life and death in the wake of a disaster.

As the flag raising ceremony ended, all participants left with a renewed passion to see safe water flow in countries around the world where it is desperately needed.
